Counting of the Omer, 2007

Week 2 Intentions

Baruch atah adonay eloheynu melech ha'olam asher kidshanu bemitzvotav vetzivanu al sefirat ha'omer.

Blessed are you, HASHEM, our God, who makes us holy with mitzvot and has commanded us to count the Omer.

Ha-yom yom e-chad ba-omer. Today is day eight of the Omer

Chesed of Gevurah

the hidden tear
    of the sphinx; the lover's

Chesed of Gevurah

One step and the world might cease to exist

Maybe I should take that step

Each Hebrew Letter

such demanding and precise

glittering vessels

Studying my Hebrew

Hebrew reveals

Hidden meanings of the past -

While creating new.

With each unknown step
re-Creation is at hand

Ha-yom tish-a yamim, shehaym shavu-a e-chad ushnay  yamim ba-omer. Today is nine days, which equals one week and two days of the Omer.

Gevurah of Gevurah

A command controlled
      chaos. There is no thing
            without bounds.

Omer, Day 9

gevurah of gevurah

Sneak away for a chat with God
Come on God
Take a card Just this once

And God said yes.

Icy, rain-filled gusts

pummel my weary body

Ha-yom asara yamim, shehaym shavu-a echad ushlosha yamim ba-omer. Today is ten days, which equals one week and three days of the Omer.

Tiferet of Gevurah

the steam whistles;
    the ice floe rears up proudly;
        the surf pounds.

Omer, Day 10
Tiferet in Gevurah

The Beauty of Restraint

I want it

but not

Rest within
the lines.

So close, the mystery
barely a breath away
in this dynamic tension,
in our dance of what if,
love, I can see your heart
fill eyes with silver longing light.
This integrative moment
so warm, so alive, so
complete, within us now
the beauty, intense here
we won't even touch
building bridges between
our skin and our intention-
you have given me life
in these moments of conscious

Restraint gives rise to
Earned appreciation,
At higher plateaus

Ha-yom achad asar yom, shehaym shavu-a echad v'arba-a yamim ba-omer. Today is eleven days, which equals one week and four days of the Omer.

Netzach of Gevurah

at the fifty-first stroke,
      the flint yielded fire
all power to the first fifty trials.

Send help

the voice I am sending
is the voice
I am hearing

[and G*d called]

Five syllable axe

split my heavy heart of stone

revealing its core

Ha-yom sh'naym asar yom, shehaym shavu-a echad vachami-sha yamim ba-omer. Today is twelve days, which equals one week and five days of the Omer.

Hod of Gevurah

the boy rides on the
      father's shoulders; he knows he
            won't let him fall.

Omer day 12

Hod of Gevurah

If I had stood for the most excellent bean

It would be poured into me

Not through a messenger not an angel not a
                                        seraph even

But the bean itself, and if it could be

Everything -- every single thing -- would
                                        be different

Inconvenient Truth:

Earth day celebration is

canceled.  -Due to  flood.

Grateful that I am

No waters flood my abode

I can celebrate

Yesod of Gevurah

we wrestled until
      daybreak and ever since,
            we have been partners.

Omer Day 13

Yesod in Gevurah

The bean was not prepared properly

The camellia sinensis was mixed
                              with spices

There was rain all day and just about
                              game time

A break in the clouds

My son's muscular

little body, happily

at rest on cool grass.

Like each Omer day,

I count new awakenings

With much gratitude.

thank you all for sharing your thoughts as we count

In a message dated 4/9/2007 7:31:42 AM Central Daylight Time, writes:
So a couple of weeks ago I am pulling together some materials together at work for the Neve monthly Board meeting. My office mate, S observes what I am doing and makes the following comments:

"For many years my father was head of our Hindu temple in India. He was always angry because he could never get enough people to volunteer and he never felt appreciated enough for all his volunteer efforts.

It's too bad that he was never able to understand that the rewards for that type of work have to be internal. If you're looking for validation from others you will always be disappointed.

I smiled and thought to myself, "Yes, I get that concept."

 Would that
    all our congregants
        got that concept

Ha-yom arba-a asar yom, shehaym sh'nay shavuot ba-omer. Today is fourteen days, which equals two weeks of the Omer.

Malkut of Gevurah

"be my strong rock
      a bastion for my safety
for you are my shelter and stronghold."

Today is the fourteenth day of the counting
Malkhut in Gevurah

I could not imagine a more excellent

Until it was prepared
                                        for me

Shema Yisrael-

Adonai Eloheinu

Adonai Echad.

( perhaps this is the ultimate Chai-ku)

simple things of life
hold true value when we look
with our intellect

Thanks all for the meditations
